Injuries plagued British former 400m record holder Redmond from major athletic success. In the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona he posted the fastest time in the qualifying round and went into the semi-finals charged. But after a strong first bend his hamstring popped and he collapsed in agony on the back straight. Determined to finish he got up and hobbled towards the line, assisted by his father, who had barged through security. Deservedly so he crossed the line to a standing ovation. Inspirational heart warming stuff!!!
