I've had divebombers on my to-do list of workouts to post but stumbled across Zuzana's video and Ladies and Gents, especially Gents I can't top this! The divebomber is a great alternative to the standard push up and works your shoulders and entire chest.

Yeah good stretch also. We do these for parkour warmup. A warmup! Though, only a few of them.
ReplyDeleteOne question: are these harder or easier using your forearms? Like when diving forward and also coming back, you transition to your forearms then up to your hands. I've been playing with both but haven't figured out which works more.
Hi Max! Thanks for visiting. In all honesty I haven't tried to do it on my forearms. It sounds like it'll be more difficult and put further emphasis on the triceps. When I've recovered from overdoing my pull-ups I'll report back to you on how I found the forearm variation.
ReplyDeleteHi Max! I gave it a go and it felt harder just staying on my hands as I get the full depth of the dive.
ReplyDeleteI could be doing it wrong though. Do you have a video example?
Cool, thanks for looking into it :)
ReplyDeleteThis video here if you skip to about 2:45 in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9Eh2kLwA7I&feature=PlayList&p=B933582608587E4B
If triceps are worked more then that would make sense for parkour, as need good explosive triceps for pushing off vaults and up the top of walls etc.
Hey Max! Thanks for the link I've favourited it! It and the others in the vid are really good warm ups!
ReplyDeleteI had been doing the forearm version slightly wrong but it still feels like the standard divebomber is a little more intense even on the triceps. But then I do prefer to do my divebombers with my hands closer together and elbows flared out.
But the forearm version to look at is more impressive.
