An ex-girlfriend once likened my irregular shaped, blackened toe nails and callous feet to those of a hobbit. Since that memorable day I've vowed once I've made enough money to frivolously spend it I'd get a pedicure.
A word of warning the pedicure for some people will place too much load on the knees, so those with weak knees should steer clear. If you are not one of those people then here's how to execute the move:
1. Stand a couple of inches away from a wall and slide down adjusting your feet so eventually you make a 90 – 45 degree above parallel (WHATEVER FEELS COMFORTABLE) angle with your leg.
2. Once you are settled and feel balanced straighten and raise one leg and squeeze your thigh whilst trying to point your toes towards you.
Hold for 5-10 seconds and with time work up to holding for a minute.
This exercise builds strength in your legs with emphasis on the quads (thighs). The isometric (tensing your muscles) part where you straighten and raise your leg works the quads as well as your hips.
*NB* Please consult a doctor before starting any new exercise programme.
