Tacfit Taster...

Clubbells, Kettlebells and paralettes aren’t your usual gym fare but boy can they give you a good workout. And a damn good workout is what Diego, Ben, Michael and Vik delivered at their London Tacfit class in Marylebone, London.

We sent our man on the road to experience one of their pre-Christmas taster sessions and get a head start on his New Year’s resolution.

The class started with mobility drills and dynamic stretching which thoroughly warmed up the muscles and joints ready for the challenge ahead. The challenge? A 20 minute circuit combining bodyweight exercises and old school clubbell and kettlebell moves. Like plenty of circuits form is often sacrificed for simply getting to the finish line but the fellas made sure that we all kept things...copacetic.

Enthusiastic and articulate representatives the four dropped their passionate two pence on the benefits and features of the Tacfit system.

The system takes what they call a “health-first fitness approach” which emphasises efficiency and maximum recovery. The ‘No Pain, No Gain’ mantra has no place in Tacfit. The requirements of tactical athletes (fire fighters, military personnel, law enforcement and martial artists) to be constantly prepared and at peak physical and mental alertness form the blue print of the Tacfit system. As the stresses placed on tactical athletes are not a million miles away from those experienced by the rest of us navigating the obstacles of the 21st Century, Tacfit applies to the wider public also.

Three of its very logical and persuasive prescriptions are firstly, that your training should develop in gradual incremental waves; secondly, movements should be employed which encourage the use of multiple movement planes (emphasis is placed on training movements rather than muscle groups); and thirdly, these movements should provide a holistic effect which develops aerobic and anaerobic strength as well as flexibility and agility.

If you’ve hit a plateau with your training or are new to exercise and want to try something fun and engaging that’ll get you on the right road for your New Year’s resolution then catch Diego and the gang at the Field Training in Marylebone. Dates and times can be found here - DiegoCore.com

If you’re nowhere near London then google Tacfit to find your nearest accredited instructor.

Before we go here’s an interview about the Tacfit philosophy and methodology with the man behind it all, Mr Scott Sonnon:
