Weighted Vest Gets Bar-barians Seal Of Approval...

UK based Bar-barians, Jay & Lee Wade recently tested out a pair of 30kg/66lbs weighted vests created by sports equipment firm, Fitstream.

Here's what Jay had to say: "We've both trained with weighted vests and jackets before - some have been good and others poor. The Fitstream vest is definetely one of the good ones if not the best we've tried so far. It's well made and has 30 velcro fastening pockets (15 at the front and 15 at the back) each able to hold a 1kg weighted block."

Since getting their hands on a Fitstream vest the fellas have put the product through its paces. Lee says their first session, "started out with a little stretch then we put 10kg into each of the vests and went for a little jog. The fasteners are easy to use and the vest fitted snugly around the torso with no loosening at all during the run. We also tried out some squat thrusts, burpees and a couple of sprint bursts, again the vest held tight."

Jay continued, "after the warm up we got into a hard weighted dip and pull up session. One vest was loaded up with 20kg and the other maxed out with 30kg. We begun with supersets of 10 x pull ups with the 20kg vest then took that vest off and put on the 30kg vest for 15 x dips. With the extra weight added the workout was seriously intense! The Fitstream vest's perfect because it didn't flap around like other weighted vests and jackets and there was no awkwardness in the shoulder straps when performing the pull ups."

Concluding their first experience Lee said, "It's a great vest and I say that having used some of the best on the market including the Mur and BOX brands. Fitstream's version is easy to use, the blocks easily slide in and out of the pockets but sit snugly inside, it can be taken off quickly, it's heavy duty and durable. We now train with it to build body weight and lean muscle two or three times a week as part of our routines!"
