femme fizzYcaL - Alli McKee

It's 1998 and a 15 year old girl from Baltimore, Maryland USA wanders into the weights room. It's an unknown environment but because of her love for sports something about it feels comfortable. And so, here the seed was planted deep in little Alli McKee's mind and a passion for fitness was born.

Under guidance from her varsity football coaches who trained her in those early days, Alli was set on a path to becoming a well sought after personal trainer, accomplished freelance fitness writer and much photographed fitness model.

In 2005 Alli gained a BA in Communications from the University of Delaware, and for the year and a half that followed she worked in sales. Like many successful fitness professionals, Alli didn't immediately realise that exercise would become more than just a hobby, but a calling.

During those long arduous 18 months the idea of working in the fitness industry tugged and tugged and eventually she found herself back on the right path and following her bliss. Since 2007 she's been a certified personal trainer, but like most highly motivated and passionate people she continues to challenge herself and better her knowledge. And so to add to her resume Alli is currently studying for a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist qualification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association of America.

The joy of being physically fit spills out into her writing. Passion fills each and every post of her blog, and our advice to you is to bookmark it now! One of our favourite Alli McKee blog posts, and soon to be yours, is I AM FITNESS. Her love and enthusiasm for sharing her fitness knowledge has not gone unnoticed and often she's called upon to write for the likes of tnation's figureathlete.com and one of the best women's fitness magazines, Oxygen (she's also modelled for them).

With a sporting background and a passion for all things strength and conditioning, Alli's athletic physique comes from not just doing the conventional gym workouts but by cross-training. Her routines incorporate bodyweight exercises like push-ups and chin ups; high intensity cardio/conditioning like sled training and mma stlye drills; and functional strength exercises like lumberjack squats and the supine hip lift with plate...

As you've now gathered Alli's a real poster girl for the break from the norm, non-faffy, athletic and highly effective workouts that too few women (and men) do, or are encouraged to do...so again we say get bookmarking her site now.

In 2009 Alli set about trying something a little different and started on the road to becoming a figure competitor. Determined and goal oriented her sights were set on competing in the big one...the premier figure/bodybuilding competition....the Arnold Classic. After impressing in national and international figure competitions Alli realised her dream earlier this year and got the opportunity to compete in the 2011 Arnold Classic.

There is so much to learn from this remarkable and very talented lady! To understand what makes her tick and to get some of her drive, determination and know-how influencing your training and your life...you know what to do...GET BOOKMARKING!
