The Irish have given the world some seriously deep and moving poetry, an excuse to party on the 17th March, the River Dance, an appreciation of luck and triumph over adversity and the King of stouts - the mighty Guinness.
The Ghanaians have given the world coca, gold, fufu, colourful art and textile, Pan-Africanist Kwame Nkrumah and more recently a sympathetic sigh when they lost unfairly to Uruguay in the World Cup.
But both countries also share the crown in producing an unprecedented amount of top class boxers. Ireland's notable boxing history starts with boxing pioneer Dan Donnelly and Ghana's with Roy Ankrah.
Born of an Irish mother and a Ghanaian father, 28 year old Lesley Sackey is gifted with the beauty and the boxing skills of both nations.
Only taking up boxing a few years ago as a way to get fit she was fast tracked to the amateur training sessions after her natural boxing prowess was recognised in the keep fit classes.
Soon after this promotion she was entered into the Amateur Boxing Association of England's female champs in 2007. She won and later became the first British woman in history to win the European Union Championships on first entry, in 2008.
Training under the guidance of Isola Akay MBE Lesley is wholeheartedly focused on adding to her national and international achievements whilst raising the profile of female boxing.
